Sunday dawned with a 2-degree frost so it was to be an awesome day for a JAG run through the Waikato countryside with a meeting point of The Rhubarb Café in Arapuni Village at 10am.
Eleven cars, 20 members and 4 grandies duly arrived with everyone enjoying a catch up and coffee etc.
We then set off for a 70 km run through many back-country roads, arriving in Otorohanga about 11.30am. Good parking was available at the railway station.
We all met at the station before wandering downtown to find somewhere to eat.
A few of the group had an enjoyable lunch at “The Thirsty Weta” and the others enjoyed a buffet lunch at The Otorohanga Club – $15 and very tasty.
We then had a short stroll around town before meeting up and driving to the Kiwi House for the 1.30pm Kiwi feeding time.
With Tuatara on display at the entrance everyone went through the Kiwi enclosure and Native Bird Park.
The bird park is home to an array of birds including Teals, Blue Ducks, Falcons, Weka and Kaka.
After an hour or so we slowly started to make our way out and everyone left for home.
